Casualty Simulation

Casualty Simulation takes the concept of Scenario training a step further by introducing the visual stimulus.

It is all very well pretending to treat a injury but the only way to prepare thoroughly is to actually treat that injury:

  • To find the injury which may not be obvious

  • To visually assess the severity of the injury and act on ones findings

  • To apply appropriate treatment directly to the injury

  • To assess the effectiveness of your actions following treatment

  • To recognise how far blood and other body fluids can be spread and the consequence of contamination

REAL First Aid can provide professional Casualty Simulation services as part of a coherent training program or as a standalone service to compliment any private or multi-agency event.

From an organisation perspective, Casualty Simulation allows the opportunity to observe the response of dedicated First Aiders and Responders and test business resilience through more complicated, planned scenarios.

Assessment and Feedback

Candidates can be assessed against knowledge, use of equipment, procedures, casualty and monitoring of the casualty.   Whilst this is not a pass-or-fail exercise this will yield quantitative data which can be used to direct future training needs.

  • Who are your strongest and weakest First Aiders?   Who could act as mentors and who needs additional training?

  • What scenarios were candidate’s adept at and where were they lacking competence?

  • What aspects of their training needs attention?  Are there area of improvement needed in the hard skills - the use of equipment or following procedure - or the softer skills, such as casualty care, monitoring or confidence?
